Expecting A Surprise

Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let’s not be afraid to receive each day’s surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or joy. Have you ever "gone out" in this way? If so, there is no logical answer possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the most difficult questions to answer in Christian work is, "What do you expect to do?" You don’t know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to "go out" in every area of your life, trusting in God entirely. -Oswald Chambers

Suddenly seems to be emphasized to me this morning. I looked at the passages that had “suddenly” in them. Matthew 28:9 seemed especially fresh, “Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Will we recognize Him when He suddenly shows up in the midst of our lives today? Will we worship Him when He surprises us with His activity?

Worship the LORD with reverence
And rejoice with trembling.
Do homage to the Son …
